If you have questions about the Amalfi Coast Itself check out our other blog post "Everything You Need to Know When Visiting the Amalfi Coast."

Day 1 Itinerary:
Arrive to Naples in the morning and get a rental car at the airport. Remember you can take the ferry or train (Click the link above to see how).
Then drive to Sorrento which is about an hour without traffic.
Options:
Option 1: You can drive to the Volcano of Vesuvius and hike a little to the top. There is an entry fee to the national park, about 10 euros. It is about 40min from the Naples International Airport.
Option 2: You can head to Pompeii, where you can book a small group tour in advance HERE or go on your own via car and explore the city without a tour. Depending if you are on a budget or not into long tours this might be the best option for you. You can also book an Audio Guide Tour on Your Own HERE where you can travel via car and pick up your tickets nearby.
Option 3: Now you do pass Vesuvius so you could do both if time allows, pick one option, or do neither and head to Sorrento.
We didn't do any of these options so REMEMBER you won't have much time Day 1 exploring Sorrento if you do one or both Options. So plan according.
We headed straight to Sorrento and checked into our hotel. You can stay on the beach which can get expensive but there isn't a bad place. Since we had a car we stayed 8minutes from town at On' Michele Guest House which included homemade breakfast and pastries from the grandmother. It was delicious! 😋 But you park on the street which is totally safe, the only negative thing I would warn is that it is good for younger people. We had to help my parents. The steep hill down to their place was a little slippery from the rain and my mom almost fell. So if you are older reading this or have balance/knee problems would recommend not staying here.
Now get food because you are going to be hungry. I have a list of AMAZING restaurants at the end for you to choose from.
Walk around Sorrento, get a gelato, shop, check out the beach and ocean, relax.

Day 2:
Take the Ferry (Alilauro) from Sorrento to Capri. You can book online for the ticket and show them on your phone. You definitely want to take the earliest ferry so you can maximize your day here.
If you have more time you can stay overnight in Capri which is GORGEOUS.
The ferry is about 15-20min long and it is huge. If you get sick on boats the BEST place for you to sit is in the back lower section where you feel less of the boat rocking.
Now you want to book a tour for the Blue Grotto and tour of the Island via boat. It is a must see/do. Now REMEMBER the Blue Grotto is a separate entrance fee and takes CASH ONLY and entrance depends on the tide. If it is high tide they will cancel. If you are unsure what this is here is a little description (It is a little cave. You hop out of the tour boat into a small gondola with a maximum of 4 people in it. When you get close to the cave you have to lay flat up against the person behind you and they use a rope to pull you in. It is pitch black but when the boat turns to the opening that you came in it this magical blue color. A beautiful sight to see). Click HERE For The Blue Grotto Tour and book it for the morning to have a better chance.
Now once your 2 hour tour is complete you can explore the Island for the rest of the day. A couple different options here.
Option 1: Take the Funicular Tram up to Capri Town which is near the ferry but the line can get super long and you'll wait a while. It costs around 2 dollars.
Option 2: Take the bus to Capri Town or Anacapri which costs around 2-2.25 dollars.
Option 3: Walk which is totally free but uphill and will take a while depending on your pace.
Option 4: Take a taxi. If you take a taxi all the way up to Anacapri they will give you a discount to ride the lift to the very top (Mount Solaro). This lift is a one seater and looks like a ski lift. Taxis cost way more but this was the option we took and it was a convertible. My parents loved it. Budget is great and there are 3 options above but sometimes you want to splurge a little.

Anacapri Things to do:
Walk around, eat, and shop.
Take the Lift to Mount Solaro
Walk through Villa San Michele for incredible views

Capri Town Things to do:
Walk around, eat, and shop.
Shop at Via Camerelle it has beautiful places.
Shop at my FAVORITE Perfume Shop called Carthusia- I Profumi Capri. The best non toxic perfume. I bought 2 to last me until I go back. 😂
Giardini di Augusto- a beautiful garden you can walk through that costs only 1 dollar. You can pay at the kiosk or online for convenience. In this garden there will be the FAMOUS Capri Overlook for pictures.
Walk to Belvedere di Punta Cannone for another scenic spot
Walk to Belvedere Tragara for pictures at the observation deck.
Saint James Charterhouse- It is a monastery but we didn't go there we just stumbled across there beautiful garden and archway entrance.
Once you are tired and explored all you wanted. Head back to the Marina Grande to catch your ferry back to Sorrento. Make sure you check times to not miss the ferry back.
Finish your evening with some dinner.
